The Academic English Program is offered at four different levels and designed for students with conditional admission to Western University or King's, Brescia or Huron University Colleges and those pursuing ESL studies. We cultivate student success by developing communicative skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking – in conjunction with the cultural knowledge required to thrive in Western’s demanding academic environment.
Depending on your skill level with the English language when you apply, you will study anywhere from one to four terms, for up to 20 hours per week. Each term is 16 weeks in length. We can accommodate any level of English proficiency. Our IELTS and TOEFL Chart will help you determine how much time will be required for you to successfully complete the program.

Who is the program designed for?
It is designed for everyone. WELC provides English language training for students who have conditional admission to programs offered at Western University and King's, Brescia, and Huron University Colleges and those pursuing ESL studies. The Academic Program is also open to any students who would like to improve their English language skills, either for the purpose of attending other colleges or universities in the English-speaking world, or for personal or professional purposes.
What documents do I need to include in my application?
If you are applying for an English language program only, we will need the application form for the Western English Language Centre. If you are applying for admission to a degree program at Western or an affiliate, we will need your high school or University transcripts. A WELC team member will contact you following submission of your application with more details. For details about admission requirements for degree study, please visit Western’s Admissions website: http://www.welcome.uwo.ca/admissions/
When is the application deadline?

Tuition for the Academic English Program in 2017 is $6,512* (Canadian dollars) per semester, plus ancillary fees.
